Side projects without startup theatre
Elevenrate and Navidoo are useful to me because they let me own a larger part of the product loop—not because I can claim scale, revenue or a finished business.
Independent projects are often presented with the language of funded products: launches, traction, growth and outcomes. That language does not fit every side project, and it does not fit mine.
Elevenrate and Navidoo are evolving pieces of work. They give me room to move beyond a single frontend task and take responsibility for the problem, information architecture, interface, data model, implementation, release and the next iteration.
That wider ownership is the value. It exposes weak assumptions quickly. A tidy interface cannot compensate for a confused product model, and a technically elegant implementation cannot make unclear information useful.
Some experiments will become stronger products. Others may remain learning environments. Both outcomes are valid as long as the work is described honestly.
I want the project pages on this site to show the decisions and the craft without pretending that every repository is a startup success story.
